Introduction

Missile Command is a classic arcade game developed and released by Atari in 1980. The game places the player in the role of a regional commander tasked with defending six cities from an endless barrage of ballistic missiles, enemy aircraft, and satellites. The player must strategically intercept incoming threats using anti-missile defenses while managing limited resources and reacting quickly to increasing difficulty.

How to play

  • Objective: The goal is to protect your cities from destruction by intercepting incoming missiles and other threats. The game ends when all cities are destroyed.
  • Controls: The player uses the mouse to determine where the missile will be fired to. Position the cursor where you want the missile to detonate. The explosion will occur in that spot, destroying nearby threats within its blast radius.
  • Bases and Ammunition: There are three missile bases, each with a limited number of missiles. Once a base is depleted, it becomes inactive until the next wave.
  • Incoming Threats: Various threats include missiles, bombers, and satellites that rain down multiple warheads. Some threats are faster and more challenging to intercept.
  • Scoring Points: Points are awarded for each intercepted missile and for each city that survives a wave. Bonus points are granted for unused missiles at the end of each wave.
  • Difficulty Progression: As the game progresses, the speed and number of incoming threats increase, making it more challenging to protect the cities.
