Introduction
Bloxorz is a popular online puzzle game that challenges players to navigate a rectangular block (or “blox”) through a series of square tiles to reach a specific goal. The objective is to maneuver the block into a square hole at the end of each level without letting it fall off the edges of the platform.
The game combines spatial reasoning, strategy, and problem-solving skills, making it both addictive and intellectually stimulating. The block in Bloxorz is a 1x1x2 rectangular prism, meaning it can stand upright (taking up one tile) or lie flat (taking up two tiles), depending on how it’s positioned. The game features 33 levels of increasing difficulty, with elements like bridges, switches, and teleporters adding complexity as you progress.
How to play
Controls
- Up Arrow: Move the block forward.
- Down Arrow: Move the block backward.
- Left Arrow: Move the block left.
- Right Arrow: Move the block right.
Block movement basics
- When the block is upright (1 tile tall), it pivots on its edge and flips in the direction you press.
- When the block is lying flat (2 tiles long), it rolls end-over-end in the direction you move it.
- The block can switch between standing and lying positions based on how you maneuver it.
Game elements
- Tiles: The playing field consists of square tiles. You must keep the block on these tiles at all times—falling off the edge means restarting the level.
- Hole: The square with a hole in the center is your goal. The block must stand upright and fall into it.
- Switches: Some levels have switches (marked with symbols like “X” or “()”) that activate bridges, split the block, or teleport it.
- Bridges: Certain tiles appear or disappear when switches are triggered.
- Soft tiles: These tiles (often orange) can only support the block when it’s lying flat across two tiles, not when it’s upright on one.
