Introduction
Run 2 is an exciting and fast-paced 3D platformer game that takes players on a thrilling journey through space. Developed by Joseph Cloutier, it’s the second installment in the popular Run series, following the original Run 1 game. Released on March 21, 2011, Run 2 introduces players to a gray alien navigating a series of challenging levels filled with platforms, gaps, and obstacles.
Unlike its predecessor, Run 2 offers two playable characters from the start: the Runner and the Skater, each with unique abilities that add variety to the gameplay. The game is known for its innovative gravity-defying mechanics, where players can run on walls and ceilings, making it a test of reflexes, timing, and spatial awareness.
How to play
Choose your character
At the start, you’ll select between two characters: the Runner or the Skater.
- Runner: Slower but more maneuverable, with better control for precise movements. Ideal for beginners.
- Skater: Faster and capable of longer jumps, but harder to control. Better suited for experienced players or those seeking a challenge.
Each character has their own set of 25 levels, and progress is saved separately.
Controls
- Arrow keys: Use the left and right arrow keys (or A and D keys, depending on your setup) to move your character side to side.
- Spacebar: Press to jump. Timing is critical to clear gaps and avoid obstacles.
- P: Pause the game.
- R: Reset the level if you fall or want to retry.
- Note: You can customize controls from the main menu if you prefer a different setup.
Gameplay
- Your character runs automatically through a 3D course of platforms floating in space.
- Jump to avoid gaps and obstacles like holes or narrow paths. Falling off the platform resets the level.
- Gravity Flipping: When you jump into a wall or ceiling, your character “sticks” to it, and the gravity shifts, allowing you to run on that surface. This is essential for navigating many levels.
- Watch out for dark, narrow surfaces—they can’t be grabbed onto, so avoid them or plan your jumps carefully.
