Introduction
Territory War is a turn-based strategy game developed by Shawn Tanner (Afro-Ninja) and released in March 2006. Often compared to the classic game Worms, it features stickman soldiers battling across various maps to eliminate the opposing team. The game is known for its simple yet engaging gameplay, allowing players to control a squad of stickmen in tactical, physics-based combat. It offers three main modes: Campaign, Challenges, and Custom Battle, playable against AI or human opponents.
How to play
Game mode
- Campaign: Progress through 10 scenarios with increasing difficulty, completing objectives to unlock stages.
- Challenges: Complete six timed missions, with a total time tracked for all challenges.
- Custom Battle: Play against AI or a friend (local 2-player mode), selecting 1-6 stickmen per team and one of six maps (two locked initially).
- Name your team and individual stickmen before starting.
Controls
- Use the mouse to navigate menus, select actions, and aim attacks.
- Keyboard:
- Arrow keys: Move stickmen (left/right) or adjust aim (up/down).
- Spacebar: Confirm actions, shoot, or charge kicks/grenades.
- Action icons at the bottom of the screen correspond to specific keys for quick selection (e.g., select weapons).
- A distance meter fills when moving; once full, the stickman stops, and you can choose an attack
Gameplay
- Turn-Based combat: Each team alternates turns, controlling one stickman at a time. Turns switch after a character is eliminated.
- Movement and actions:
- Move or stay: Decide whether to reposition your stickman or remain in place. Movement is limited by the distance meter.
- Attacks (select one per turn):
- Grenade: Deals area damage and can knock stickmen off maps for instant kills. Be cautious, as it can harm your own team.
- Rifle: Low damage but effective for headshots, which remove half a stickman’s health. Aim carefully using the mouse.
- Boot (Kick): Low-damage melee attack to push enemies off platforms or reposition teammates. Hold the spacebar to increase power.
- Health and friendly fire: Monitor team health in the top corners of the screen. Your attacks can damage teammates, so aim precisely.
- Maps: Six unique maps with platforms, bridges, and obstacles that affect strategy. Use terrain to your advantage
