Introduction
Riddle Transfer is a point-and-click adventure puzzle game developed by JonBro (now Jonochrome), released on June 6, 2011. It’s a spin-off of the Riddle School series and a direct sequel to Riddle School 5, set in an intergalactic context. You play as Phil Eggtree, a student who, along with his four alien friends (Zack Kelvin, Smiley Sundae, Phred Whistler, and Phil himself), is imprisoned in a mysterious alien research facility called Zone 5.1 after being kidnapped.
The game blends witty dialogue, pixel-art visuals, and intricate puzzles, offering an engaging narrative where players must solve challenges to escape the facility and uncover the story. It’s known for its humor, nostalgic Flash game aesthetic, and creative problem-solving, making it a favorite among puzzle enthusiasts.
How to play
Controls
- Left-click to interact with objects, characters, or move between rooms.
- Click and drag items in your inventory to use or combine them.
- Click on dialogue options to communicate with characters for clues or story progression.
Gameplay steps
- Start in your cell: You begin locked in a prison cell. Observe your surroundings for clues. For example, take the flusher handle from the toilet and use it to reach the dialpad. Enter the code “78255” (found on the TV screen in the top-right corner) to unlock the door.
- Explore the facility: After escaping your cell, find the elevator key (e.g., in the storage room under papers) to access all floors (B1 and B2). Navigate rooms to collect items like a hose, creature communicator, or power card.
- Solve puzzles: Puzzles involve combining items, entering codes, or manipulating objects. For instance:
- To free Messie, use the creature communicator to ask where he lived, obtain a power card, and arrange pipes in the control room to flush him out.
- To free Phred, get a note from him saying “snoz” (translates to code 51702) and enter it into his cell’s dialpad.
- Other puzzles require creative item use, like combining feathers with a hat for Bigtoe or freezing a guard door open to access Diz.
- Interact with characters: Talk to characters like Messie, Smiley, or guards for hints or items. Dialogue often provides critical puzzle solutions.
- Progress through rooms: Each room contains unique puzzles or clues. Pay attention to details, as clues may be hidden in notes, symbols, or character interactions. Move between floors using the elevator to gather all necessary items.
Riddle Transfer offers a mix of suspense, humor, and brain-teasing puzzles, with an immersive story and memorable characters. Its intuitive mechanics make it accessible, while the challenging puzzles keep it engaging for hours.
